Under the direction of a coach, teams train on Saturdays and have friendly games on Sundays. Street Soccer teams also regularly compete in friendly matches against labor centers and shelters around the city to encourage connections between Street Soccer players and community organizations. Street Soccer LA works with partner organizations to provide participants with holistic services to help them take ownership over their lives, including educational, housing, and job placement assistance.
We know that our participants lack basic life skills which act as small but devastating barriers to achieving their educational and employment goals.
Street Soccer USA delivers a curriculum of the basic skills that is designed to achieve outcomes in five areas: self-efficacy, sense of direction and purpose in life, increased number of social relations, improved mental and physical health, emotional self-regulation or anger management.
Street Soccer USA has learned that of the participants that achieve positive outcomes in these areas, 75% of successfully pursue further education, find employment, improve their living situation, or refrain from criminal activity and substance abuse.
