Project overview

A social club in the border region of Mozambique that provides sports activities and a home for deprived youngsters. Up to 15% of the participants are either one or two parent orphans and around 40% come from dysfunctional homes. In the absence of secure families, the sport team becomes the real ‘home' for the youngsters. The team members eat together, play together and live together. The hope for community members and, especially, children to find a ‘family’ in place of the one they have lost is frequently encourages people to become involved. It is this family unit that the project hopes to offer the participants whilst teaching invaluable life lessons at the same time.
