At Laureus, we believe in sport for social change. In this special summer of athletics, excellence and teamwork, we want to ‘share the spirit’ of sport with our new Laureus Medal Facebook app.
Do you have a friend who is a great sport? Maybe they’ve done something special to help make the world a better place? ‘Share the spirit’ this summer of sport and award one of your friends a Laureus gold medal.
Simply find a picture of your friend on Facebook, use the app to award them a Laureus Medal, add your own design touches and post it on their Facebook page so their friends can see that you’ve recognised their achievement. Let your friend know why you are awarding them a ‘Laureus Gold Medal’ and then sit back and watch them get the appreciation they deserve.
You will be entered into a prize draw to win a priceless trip for two to the Laureus World Sports Awards (inc. flights and accommodation), and fantastic weekly prizes that include Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius’ signed shirt, gold medal doubles winner Boris Becker’s signed racket and shoes, gold medal winner Wladimir Klitschko’s signed boxing gloves and a South Africa Rugby Sevens shirt signed by the team.
Whether it’s celebrating the year’s greatest sportspeople or helping vulnerable kids improve their lives through sport, every year Laureus works to change the world through sport. Share the spirit of Laureus by giving something back to your personal heroes and be in with the chance of meeting some of your sporting heroes. Past sport stars at the Awards have been Oscar Pistorius, Tony Hawk, Monica Seles, Novak Djokovic, Andre Villas-Boas, Martina Navratilova, David Beckham, Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal.
Recently inducted to the Laureus Academy, five times Olympic Gold medalist rower Sir Steve Redgrave, CBE, says of the awards, “it is generally accepted that the awards season’s crowning glory is the Oscars, but if you’re a sportsman, the Laureus World Sports Awards are the highlight of the calendar.”
The Laureus World Sports Awards directly helps support the charitable projects that Laureus is involved in across the world, and this great prize represents a fantastic opportunity to for anyone interested in sport to see just how much sport can give back.
