Boxing icon and Laureus Ambassador Axel Schulz, took over the patronage for the project as part of his visit, and was joined by legendary coach Uli Wegner and professional boxer Arthur Abraham.
The three sporting heroes took time off to visit the children and young people at the Laureus project’s boxing ring. They gave the young boxers valuable tips, corrected the footwork of the beginners and the even coached some of the more advanced boxers in an intense sparring session.
The main objective of the Kick IM Boxring project is to achieve sustainable positive influence on young people, using the power of sport to tackle social problems and to bring them off the streets.
In five locations in Berlin, children and young people have the opportunity to participate in a great boxing workout all free of charge. ‘Kick IM Boxring’ supports children and young people while teaching them values of responsibility, following rules, practice fairness, build relationships, and pursue active and meaningful leisure activities.
To thank the sporting stars, the project youngsters presented them with a framed group picture of the project participants at the end of the session. It certainly look like the praise and recognition of these stars will remain in their memory for a very long time.
